You may have heard of wheatgrass, but thought it was something only extreme health nuts drank! Well, that isn’t entirely true and we’d like to explain why it’s a great idea to welcome wheatgrass into your life.
What is Wheatgrass?
Wheatgrass is the young grass of the wheat plant, Triticum aesitivum and it thrives in the temperate regions of Europe and the United States. While you probably wouldn’t want to eat it by itself, as it’s tough to digest, it is great in its juiced form. It’s also fairly easy to grow at home!
How to Juice Wheatgrass
We recommend not putting wheatgrass in a blender or processor because it will oxidize the chlorophyll. Try using a juicer instead. Make sure to always check your wheatgrass before juicing it to make sure that it is free of any mold, which can spread rapidly through the sprouts. Yellow sprouts should definitely be avoided, as they will have an altered flavor.
Wheatgrass provides an array of health benefits when ingested. Firstly, it contains chlorophyll, which improves blood sugar problems, helps purify the liver, and neutralizes toxins in the body. Wheatgrass also helps aid in digestion and reduce high blood pressure. There are many health benefits to wheatgrass and we dare you to try it sometime!
